Charles Shelby Coffey III is a Trustee of the Newseum in Washington, D.C., and a member of both the International Advisory Council of APCO. Worldwide and the Council on Foreign Relations. 

He has held many esteemed positions including; Editor and Executive Vice President of the Los Angeles Times, Executive Vice President of ABC News, President of CNN Business News and CNNfn, Deputy Managing Editor of the Washington Post, and Editor of US News and World Report, Board Member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, and a member at the International Press Institute. 

Coffey was named Editor of the Year by the National Press Foundation and received the Ida B. Wells Award.
